Le Roy awards sludge transport contract to Casella, approves $80,200 WWTF pay application

The Village of Le Roy Board of Trustees on Dec. 18 awarded the Le Roy Wastewater Treatment Facility sludge transportation and disposal contract to New England Waste Services of ME, Inc. d/b/a Casella after receiving a single responsible bid. The bid tabulation lists $73.80 per ton for transportation only and $152.32 per ton for transportation and disposal, with a $10/ton contingency for weekend, holiday and emergency hauling. Mayor Gregory Rogers and WWTF Superintendent Steven Carroll said only one viable bidder responded and that costs have risen since the Village last contracted for the service.
The Board also approved Pay Application #33 Revised for Wind-Sun Construction in the amount of $80,200.05 for WWTF Phase 1 work. The contract award resolution states the award is contingent on review by the Village attorney and authorizes the Mayor to execute the agreement and issue a Notice to Proceed once conditions are met. The resolution and bid checklist were read into the record and the motion carried by unanimous roll call.
