Mr. Dixon explained the project had been phased because federal funds alone would not cover the full rebuild. He gave a phase-2 cost estimate of $5,483,000 and said WACOG awarded $3,111,801, federal and state dollars contribute roughly $2,000,000, and the city’s portion will be $371,199. "So it's a great project," Dixon said, adding that the county recognized the road’s regional function and that the city’s match is relatively small relative to the total plan.
Councilors discussed contingency and overage risk; Dixon said any cost overages would be the city's responsibility beyond the match. The resolution passed on roll call. Staff will coordinate property acquisitions and environmental tasks ahead of the 2026–2027 construction schedule.
