Council renews agreement for countywide forensic/CSI services
Summary
South Ogden approved an interlocal agreement with Weber County to continue access to the county CSI unit. Chief Park said CSI services run on a population-and-call-frequency funding formula and projected the city's FY25 expense at $49,797.
The council approved Resolution 25-14 to maintain South Ogden’s participation in the Weber County CSI (crime scene investigation) unit.
Chief Park briefed the council, saying the CSI unit provides specialized scene processing and limited lab analysis across the county and that the program has operated for more than 25 years. He said funding is apportioned by population and use: "We call CSI out about every 3 days on something ranging from a gunshot wound to a vehicle burglary," and he gave the city's projected FY25 cost as "$49,797."
Councilors said the expense is included in the operating budget and voted to approve the interlocal agreement so the department may continue calling CSI under the county arrangement.
The measure preserves access to specialist evidence processing and lab services that South Ogden police rely on for complex investigations.
