Staff: new Grant Place historic district application coming to Landmarks Board Sept. 2

City planning staff informed the Landmarks Board that a new historic district application covering four blocks along Grant Place (between Chautauqua and Columbia on University Hill) was recently submitted and will move through the required process.
Marcy Gerwing said the code requires a defined timeline for such nominations; staff anticipates holding the initiation hearing at the board’s Sept. 2 meeting and, if accepted, following community engagement and returning for a designation hearing in December. The package includes roughly 86 properties and will follow the established public review and engagement steps before a final decision is made.
