Yarmouth adopts Complete Streets policy to qualify for MassDOT funding

The Yarmouth Select Board voted on Aug. 11 to adopt a Complete Streets policy to qualify for the Massachusetts Department of Transportation's funding program.
Amanda Lima, the town engineer, and intern Justice Wong described the outreach and rubric work that prepared the town for adoption. Justice Wong said the policy had already been graded and the town had "more than 80 points, so we are eligible," and that the policy must be followed by a prioritization plan to nominate eligible projects for funding. The presentation described outreach sessions at libraries, the senior center and the Rail Trail, and emphasized that sidewalks and multimodal connections were recurring community priorities.
Board members applauded the work: the policy clears the way for tier‑2 work (a prioritization plan) and later project applications. The board moved to adopt the policy as presented and voted in favor. Staff said the next steps include a prioritization plan, more public outreach, and potential project applications for construction funding.
