Huron planning board tables parking-regulation updates to add ADA and climate considerations

The Town of Huron Planning Board on March 5, 2025 discussed proposed updates to the town's parking regulations and agreed to delay action while staff revise the draft. Chairman George Steffler said future parking-site reviews should be based on a certified map and clarified that existing parking lots would be grandfathered under the changes. The board asked staff to incorporate additional materials before forwarding the draft to the Town Board and Town Attorney.
Board member Deb Stuck asked whether information about the "climate smart initiative" could be added to the document. Board member Alexandra Welsh requested that the Americans with Disabilities Act be included in the updated materials. The board did not vote to adopt the revisions at the March meeting and instead tabled the item until the next meeting to allow incorporation of those changes and legal review.
