Hudson Falls outlines summer events, park use and pest control plans

Officials announced Community Days on the 25th–26th, a Derby Park event on Aug. 23, a Brazilian United Soccer Camp July 28–Aug. 1, and that the Vietnam Memorial Wall will be open 24 hours starting the 25th; trustees also said pest control would address a Japanese beetle problem at Derby Park.
Mayor John Barton told the Board that Community Days will take place on the 25th and 26th and are being run by the Recreation Department and the school; he said there will be games, vendors and food trucks. He added the Derby Park Committee plans a similar event on Aug. 23 with live music and sports, and that Fire Department staff (Katie Bover) have helped coordinate vendors.
The mayor also announced a Brazilian United Soccer Camp scheduled July 28–August 1 and said the Vietnam Memorial Wall will be open 24 hours beginning the 25th. He reported the village will arrange for a pest company to spray Derby Park for a Japanese beetle problem. A youth softball team also requested use of the field for practice; the record shows that field-use requests will be considered by staff.
