Board notes correspondence including Maui Ferry study; counsel says ferry matter not under Board duties

Chair Inouye-Nohara told members the Board had received a letter from CWRM, a June 30 letter from N&K CPAs, an email from SkyH2O Inc. dated July 1, and an email from Frank J. Martin Company dated July 8, as well as correspondence from the Department of Transportation regarding the Maui Ferry Environmental Study.
Deputy Corporation Counsel Yukari Murakami advised members that the Maui Ferry correspondence "doesn't really fall under the duties of the BWS so if members want to participate, they should do so on an individual capacity basis." The Board did not take formal action on any of the correspondence because it lacked a quorum; administrative items including minutes and the draft letter were deferred to the next meeting. The Board scheduled a contested-case hearing for August 20, 2026, at 9:00 a.m., and set its next regular meeting for August 20, 2026 at 1:30 p.m. A special meeting was scheduled for August 6 at 1:30 p.m.
