Eka Schneider, Piedmont's communications officer, told the council the office has expanded from a broadcast function into a broader strategic communications program. "We now have an annual messaging calendar," she said, and the office increased production of news releases from an historical average of 18 a year to 116 in the current year.
Schneider described investments in video storytelling—highlighting four pool project update videos with roughly 5,000 views and about 272 hours of watch time—and said the office sampled 25 popular videos and found about 65% of views occurred more than 30 days after publication. She also described Engage Piedmont, an online public‑engagement portal that received over 1,200 responses, and a project email list of roughly 600 subscribers with open rates Schneider described as nearly 90% for some projects. Councilmembers asked about short‑form video strategy and how the office coordinates messaging with departments; Schneider described a long‑form‑first approach and a mix of traditional and paid outreach tools.
