Attorney outlines possible water‑tower easement transfer and revenue share
Summary
Attorney Bill Nikas told trustees the village is a candidate to transfer easements for its water towers to an outside entity that would manage leases; he said the transfer would be permanent and the village could receive 50% of new tenant agreements while current leases include 60–90 day termination clauses.

Attorney Bill Nikas briefed the Board on a potential opportunity to transfer the easement for the village’s water towers to an outside manager that would handle tenant leases. "It is an easement, so it is a permanent transfer to occupy the tower," Nikas said, and he added that if a different business later occupied a tower "we would receive 50% of that agreement." Nikas said the village’s leases include 60–90 day termination clauses and that neighboring South Glens Falls has undertaken similar arrangements.
Board members did not vote on the matter at the Sept. 8 meeting; Nikas said the outside entity has received the village leases and will evaluate them and report back. The proposal could change how the village derives revenue from tower leases but requires further review before any formal action.
