Town approves $20,000 transfer to finalize EMS contract as public questions EMS district vote

Supervisor James Monty opened the June 10 meeting and the board quickly approved a $20,000 budget transfer to allocate the final payment to the Elizabethtown-Lewis Emergency Squad. Councilor John Blades moved the transfer and Councilor Steven Denton seconded; the motion carried with no opposition.
During public comment, Jeff Scott asked whether the board would vote on forming an EMS district and requested an opportunity to be heard. Scott said he had "read the Public Notice for the last meeting, 6-4-25 (Public Hearing for the consideration of formation of EMS District)." Supervisor Monty told the board he believed "the majority of the people were against the vote." Councilor Terry Pulsifer later told the board he judged the June 4 public hearing "is not feasible" for forming a district and recommended continuing to contract for services annually; Councilors John Blades and Steven Denton agreed.
