Stone carving seminar set for August; board discusses new Town Hall site and display options

Van Hentenryck confirmed the 18th annual stone carving seminar for Aug. 11–30, 2025 and asked about use of an air compressor; Supervisor Mahoney said the board is planning a new Town Hall complex and would like to preserve or relocate stone carving workspace and display pieces on the property.
Kevin Van Hentenryck told the board the stone carving seminar will run Aug. 11–30, 2025 and thanked the highway department and office staff for ongoing logistical support. He asked to be sure an air compressor will be available for the event; Superintendent Robert Blain said they have been using a compressor owned by the Village of Tannersville and will check the town’s compressor when it is operational.
Supervisor Sean Mahoney told Van Hentenryck the board plans a new Town Hall complex that could expand onto a nine-acre parcel west of the parking lot and emphasized the board does not wish to eliminate the stone carvings: "the board is planning a new Town Hall complex which could potentially expand to the nine acre parcel... the Town Board does not wish to get rid of the stone carvings, rather they are open to potential spaces where they could be relocated to, or the individual pieces could be place throughout the property for display as finished pieces." The board discussed workspace and display options for future pieces.
