Code officer seeks clearer STR rules, to shop alternatives to current monitoring software

Code Enforcement Officer Rose Santiago told the Town Board she reviewed the Granicus short-term rental (STR) software with another vendor and does not wish to renew a contract with Granicus when it expires on June 28, 2025. Santiago asked that the town compare costs for only the modules needed for enforcement rather than purchasing full product suites.
Santiago also urged clearer public messaging: "R. Santiago wants it to be made clear that if you have a short-term rental, you can’t just put up a business sign as a STR is not recorded as a commercial business." She said she will add language to the STR law revisions and asked the board to consider updates to the town website to reduce confusion about permitted signage and zoning status for STRs.
