Streets Supervisor Bob Phillips reported a sinkhole at Municipal Lot #1 caused by failure of a 24‑inch clay tile and recommended replacing approximately 10 feet of pipe, reconnecting affected lines and installing a larger catch basin. An engineer and a consultant (Insight) recommended lining the pipe in sections and replacing the clay tile where it failed.
Two contractor estimates were presented: Mansfield at $22,295 and McLallen Construction at $23,450; council voted unanimously to accept Mansfield’s estimate and proceed with the work. The motion requires the borough to provide a truck during the project per contractor terms.
