Chair Paul Bohm said the group scheduled a public forum for Sept. 4 in a League of Women Voters 'First Friday' slot and expects panelists from the DI Commission, police, schools and possibly the Human Rights Commission to explain how data would be analyzed and used. "We've scheduled a public forum for September 4," Bohm said, adding the event would present a "straw man" for public feedback.
Members urged practical outreach measures. Dan Hart and others recommended publishing FAQs and providing live Q&A; Deborah Dorfman and Michael suggested multiple sessions or evening repeats so the event would not be limited to "the converted." Naomi warned that a 10 a.m. time would exclude many residents and the group discussed repeating the forum in the evening. Jennifer proposed including a demonstration showing how reports would be handled and how the system would protect people from bad-faith reports.
Bohm said he would draft FAQs and asked staff liaison Magnolia Begley to collect suggested FAQ items from committee members; the group agreed to hold a follow-up meeting to resolve remaining issues before rollout.
