Commissioners honor Prairie View A&M University on its 150th anniversary

Commissioner Trevillian read the proclamation into the record, citing Prairie View's founding by the Texas Legislature and its growth into a leading historically Black college and university. Guests from the university and its extension service, including county extension director Maggie Johnson and several extension agents, attended and briefly described local outreach and after‑school programs supported by Prairie View staff. The court approved the proclamation unanimously and invited those present to be recognized and photographed.
The proclamation praised Prairie View's legacy of land‑grant education, research and community engagement, and acknowledged its contribution to the region and nation.
