The Selectboard learned on Aug. 6 that the Winooski Natural Resources Conservation District canceled its study of the Cilley Hill dam after neighboring property owners denied researchers access. As Erik Johnson reported, "the neighboring property owners blocked access for the environmental researchers, so the Winooski Natural Resources Conservation District canceled the study." Board members discussed whether owners lost trust because removal was emphasized and whether grant timing now prevents completing the work this year. Peter Booth and others asked staff to pursue ownership and liability questions, and the board agreed to put the matter on a future agenda for further discussion.
