Indian River County approves feasibility study for Sebastian septic-to-sewer conversion

The Board of County Commissioners approved a county-funded feasibility study to evaluate septic-to-sewer conversion options for the City of Sebastian.
County Administrator staff introduced the item as the follow-up to earlier commitments made in June. Sean Lieske, director of the Department of Utility Services, told the board: "As we embark on this process, we do fully intend to engage Sebastian and their staff in the process." Lieske said the study will assess feasibility across the community and produce high-level cost estimates for options including low-pressure force mains, gravity sewer and vacuum systems.
The work order is budgeted and staff said they will return findings and estimated costs to the board for future decisions. The motion to approve the contract for the feasibility study passed with a second and a voice vote.
