Planning commission approves Sunbelt Rentals site plan for Vero West Business Park

The Indian River County Planning & Zoning Commission on Nov. 13 approved a major site plan allowing Sunbelt Rentals to develop an equipment rental and leasing facility within Vero West Business Park.
"Before you today is Sunbelt Rentals, and they're seeking major site plan approval," Kelly McKinley, senior planner with Current Development, told the commission during a staff presentation that described access from Enterprise Road, on-site stormwater conveyance and required conditions including recording a unity of title combining Lots 21 through 25 and completing final landscape and buffer plans.
Commissioners questioned landscaping details, traffic and stormwater. McKinley said the landscape buffer includes a berm and additional plantings along State Road 60. A staff member added that "Traffic engineering reviewed and approved the layout. The trip gen associated with this is actually really, really low." The staff presentation noted stormwater from the site will connect into existing ponds that are part of the subdivision's master stormwater system.
Developer Parker Hudson of Moffett Properties described Sunbelt Rentals as a national firm and told the commission the company "has committed 10 years to Vero Beach with over $8,000,000 commitment," and showed site renderings and building elevations during the public comment period.
On a motion to adopt staff recommendation, the commission voted to approve the site plan with the listed conditions; the motion passed unanimously.
