Mr. Bartlett told the board the district plans to continue its annual vehicle replacement schedule, surplus four older buses and one micro bird and replace them with four new buses and one micro bird each year. The bus proposition was summarized as part of the budget presentation and tied to Proposition 1.
He also noted the district is applying for a state two-year extension on the 0-emission bus transition process so the district can better evaluate timing and technology choices. “We are in the process of applying for that 1st of 2 2 year extensions,” he said, describing the extension as a way to buy time to communicate with community members and to watch state-level developments. The board took no separate vote specifically on the transition extension during the meeting; the bus replacement plan was included in the broader budget adoption.
