Commission approves trail and street closures, community center use for upcoming events

The Cedartown City Commission approved several community event requests during the July 13 meeting. The Commission approved Leonard Draper’s petition to use the Silver Comet Trail for the Run for Nuns on Oct. 10, 2026 (7 a.m.–1 p.m.) and the Pedal for St. Patrick’s Bike Ride on March 13, 2027 (7 a.m.–1 p.m.).
Commissioners also approved the Turner Street Community Center for weekly Dance in Delight classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays in 2027 on the condition that a new insurance certificate be filed with the city. The commission approved closing Prior Street for the annual Bulldog Bash on Aug. 20, 2026 from 6–8 p.m. A delegate for a Community Grand Rising event did not appear.
