The Cedartown City Commission on July 13 approved a conditional use allowing applicant Jignesh Patel to renovate four units at 337 West Ave (parcel C12-057C) and open a convenience store. Shawn Astin, speaking for the applicant, said the owner will renovate the front, add a back entrance, and perform painting and pressure washing as part of the improvements.
The commission also approved a beer & wine package license for the location (278 Quick Stop). Separately, the applicant asked to operate coin-operated amusement machines in the convenience store — Shawn Astin said the maximum would be six machines in a public area — but the commission tabled that request while the City Attorney researches distance requirements. The tabling preserves the applicant’s request but delays action until legal clarity about machine placement and regulatory distance standards is provided.
