Community development reports steady permit activity and ongoing code-enforcement caseload

Staff reported 43 permits issued in July across building, plumbing and other categories, with approximately $49,000 collected in permit fees and 19 active code-enforcement cases; staff said 47 unpermitted-construction cases remain open.
Community development staff briefed the council on monthly permit and enforcement activity for July, reporting that the building department issued 18 building permits with a valuation of a little over $420,000 and $25,000 in building-permit fees. Across all permit types the department issued a total of 43 permits and collected just over $49,000 in permit fees for the month.
Staff also reported 19 active code-enforcement cases with two new cases submitted in July, 47 unpermitted-construction cases still open and four enforcement cases closed during the month. The department said it is coordinating with the city prosecutor on several enforcement matters that may move toward abatements as appropriate.
