Police Chief Small told the Village Board on Jan. 5 that a Fourth Street home contained 13 dogs after a search warrant was executed, exceeding the village's five-dog limit. He said one citation was dismissed when a complainant withdrew but that he "would be issuing eight citations for the excessive number of dogs" after the citation software is operational.
Chief Small also reported several parking- and snow-related enforcement items: parking citations tied to recent snowfall, complaints near Ma’s Bakery, orders for new parking signs including no-parking signs on Union Street near apartments to preserve emergency access, and a recommendation to adopt alternate-side parking with signage installed this year and enforcement starting next winter. The board directed Chief Small to work with Clerk Atterbury and the village attorney to draft revised snow-removal and parking ordinances for future review.
