Russ DaFonce, Mediation Program Director for Essex, Franklin and Hamilton counties, gave a short presentation to the Town of Jay Board describing a mediation program run through the Rural Law Center of New York and funded by grants from the Unified Court System. He told the board the program is free and provided contact information for residents: russ@rurallaawcenter.org and 518-561-5460.
Supervisor Matt Stanley and board members noted the program as a local resource for neighbor disputes and other matters where mediation could offer an alternative to court. Attorney Daniel Manning later recommended the board consider using Russ DaFonce to mediate an ongoing neighbor dispute; no formal action was required that night.
