Superintendent Dr. Wutak reported enrollment and available slots for Universal Pre-K (UPK) across district partner sites and outlined transportation procedures for four-year-old students.
"Tecumseh at 35; so Tecumseh can take 1 more student. We have Moses DeWitt at 18 and Jamesville at 18, and then we have Little Luke's has 10 students, so there's 8 openings at Little Luke's. And then RECC has 9 students, so there's 5 openings at RECC," Dr. Wutak said while summarizing site capacity.
She explained that UPK students are picked up at the nearest bus stop, escorted from buses to their assigned elementary school, and that students attending RECC or Little Luke's are escorted by bus attendants for an additional transfer. The district emphasized close supervision for four-year-olds during arrival and dismissal.
Board members asked for comparative bus-run times, the out-of-pocket cost to families, and whether off-site UPK sites provide both breakfast and lunch; staff said they will compile the requested data and return it at a future meeting.
