Parks director seeks consent approval for gift-certificate fundraiser and 'Boarding for Breast Cancer' event

Indra Winquist, director of Parks and Recreation, asked the committee to place two in-kind donation requests on the consent agenda: annual gift certificates for an education-golf fundraiser and the 'Boarding for Breast Cancer' lake event that uses Commons Beach as its staging area.
"It was about 60% of them were redeemed," Winquist said of the gift certificates, adding that the certificates are restricted to non-peak play times and must be used within three days of the desired tee time. Winquist said the certificate program typically brings new players to the course as part of fundraising outreach.
Winquist also described the lake event scheduled for early August, which has used Commons Beach as staging for several years and, like the certificates, was recommended for placement on the consent calendar for the full board to approve.
