Board authorizes fines for sump-pump ordinance noncompliance
Summary
The board authorized moving forward with fines for properties that fail to comply with the village sump pump ordinance after notifications; fines will be added to property taxes per ordinance.
Clerk Atterbury reported that, consistent with village ordinance, fines for sump pump violations may be added to property taxes. Officer Small had sent notification letters to property owners identified as noncompliant.
Village President Robert McLimans cited two properties that had not complied despite multiple notifications (825 Fourth Street and a property owned by Tyler Crubel). On a motion by Trustee Daentl, seconded by Al Mergen, trustees approved proceeding with fines for any remaining violations after notifications, with fine amounts to follow the existing ordinance.
