Trustees approve two-week radar study for Mill Street after reports of heavy through-traffic

Village President Robert McLimans reviewed a traffic concern raised in Officer Small’s report that 600–700 vehicles travel Mill Street each day and proposed a data-driven response. Trustees agreed to use a village radar speed sign to conduct a two-week, two-direction speed and volume study to obtain accurate counts and speed distributions.
Trustees discussed possible additional measures, including more stop signs on Fifth Street approaching town from Fairground Road to slow incoming traffic (drivers were described entering at 45–65 mph in a 25-mph zone). Trustee Scott Daentl moved to deploy the radar unit near the Patch Grove entrance for the study and the motion carried. The board did not adopt new signs or traffic-calming devices at the meeting pending results of the study and further review.
