Whitman Park gardeners ask board how to apply for parks funding

“My name is Irma Montoya, and I live in Keizer. We're here because we're part of the garden… Whitman Park,” she said, asking how to become involved and how to request help. Staff directed her to the volunteer coordinator and explained the application and appointment process: interested volunteers apply to the volunteer coordinating committee and, if recommended, are appointed by city council.
The board confirmed community gardens in the room and encouraged the speaker to follow up with staff for the application steps and potential funding opportunities.
