Union City Borough Council on Sept. 16 approved submitting an application to Erie County for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds of up to $100,000 to repair stormwater infrastructure in Municipal Lot #1. Councilor Steadman made the motion, seconded by Councilor Osborn; the motion carried unanimously with four councilors present.
Streets Supervisor Bob Phillips and Borough Manager Cindy Wells told council that Mansfield will fill an identified sinkhole, replace approximately 10 feet of pipe and install a new catch basin before a smoke-and-dye test is performed to locate further leaks. The borough is awaiting quotes from JT Patching and Paving and Cross Paving to repave the affected area and the catch-basin area in Municipal Lot #2; business owners and the Union City Volunteer Fire Department (UCVFD) will be notified once smoke testing is scheduled.
