Local scouts attend Parks Board meeting to complete merit‑badge requirements

Several members of Scout Troop 7105 attended the Aug. 11 Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meeting to observe civic process and satisfy merit‑badge requirements.
Charlie Stitt introduced himself as the troop’s SPL and explained the group was attending to complete communications and community citizenship work. “So my name is Charlie Stitt, and, we're at scout troop 7105. And we're here tonight for, basically, our crossover scouts, new scouts, and a couple of our other scouts have… communications,” he said.
Samuel Demenu and Emmett Eastland also spoke about their merit‑badge work. Samuel said attending meetings was part of his communications badge and noted it would help him finish Eagle requirements. Board members and the chair praised the scouts for civic involvement and encouraged them to consider future Eagle Scout projects in Keizer parks; parks staff offered to help identify appropriate projects and mentors.
The presence of youth learners drew repeated encouragement from board members, who invited the scouts to return with project proposals and thanked them for attending.
