Jackson County commissioners voted to approve the contingent purchase of a vacant lot identified for a new lift station in the Indian Springs sewer project. County staff said the owners proposed a $39,900 price and the board authorized purchase contingent on an appraisal, with the county paying the lesser of the appraised value or the asking price.
Staff told the board they have confirmation from the state that grant funds may be used to acquire the parcel. Commissioners noted comparable nearby sales and asked that staff complete the appraisal before executing the contract; staff said they will return with appraisal results and, if necessary, a counteroffer before bringing a fully executed contract to the chair.
