The Adams County Board approved an additional-fund appropriation of $70,700 to construct a secure room behind the county building for identification and investigative processing, Coroner Scott D. Graham told the board.
Graham explained the facility will create a cleaner, more secure space for law enforcement partners to process investigations and assist families and that the funds come from revenues generated through cremation permits rather than taxpayer dollars. He said he was requesting only half of the money set aside for the project.
Board members discussed chain-of-custody concerns, storage and regional-hub benefits; the board approved the appropriation by roll-call vote: 21 in favor, 0 opposed.
