The Junius Town Board on Oct. 15 voted to request Delaware River Solar seed an escrow account with $60,000 to cover costs tied to a Wendel contract related to a proposed solar project.
Planning Board Chair Linda Mott asked the board to sign the Wendel contract and to request the $60,000 escrow from Delaware River Solar. Councilman Rick Wadhams moved to start the escrow account with Delaware River at $60,000; Councilman Randy Wadhams seconded and the motion passed 5-0. Town attorney Jeff Graff summarized residents' legal options and noted that local laws are applied uniformly and can be challenged through state processes if residents believe they are treated unfairly.
The vote authorizes town staff to proceed with the contract signature and to seek the escrow deposit from the project developer. The board did not record further conditions or a timeline for the escrow deposit at the meeting.
