Jordan board approves Local Law A to consolidate planning board and appeals board

John Nevin Jr., identified in the record as the current Zoning Board chairman, spoke in favor, saying a five-member joint board with two alternates "there should always be a quorum (whereas right now they often do not have enough members to hold a quorum), both Boards would be aware of what is going on at the same time, therefore, there should be less miscommunication." Nevin also said board members are required to attend a minimum of four hours of training or they cannot be considered for re-election.
Trustee Stapleton moved to approve Local Law A-2024; Trustee Simko seconded and "all voting in favor, motion carried." The public hearing opened at 7:00 p.m. and closed at 7:10 p.m. The board did not record individual vote counts in the minutes beyond the unanimous result.
The law's stated effect is procedural consolidation; the board did not adopt implementing bylaws during the meeting and did not specify a timeline for appointing the new joint board members. Mayor Brim noted no additional information on potential land acquisitions tied to planning action at the meeting.
