Disaster Recovery Partners consultants Matt Smith and Mike Keim briefed the Italy Town Board on the status of FEMA-funded projects under DR#4625 and DR#4825 and outlined outstanding work needed to finish road restorations.
Matt Smith said, "they do have someone lined up to do those studies if the Town chooses to move forward," referring to hydrology and survey work for the Burke Hill Road area. Board members and Highway Superintendent Andy Best questioned repair specifications, survey timing and whether Yates County specifications would be required for a possible bridging solution at the Lower Road culvert.
Nick Baranowski noted local assistance offers: "Kevin Olvany of the Canandaigua Lake Watershed Council has offered assistance by providing an excavator and an operator to help if needed." The board scheduled a follow-up coordination meeting with Disaster Recovery Partners, Grove Engineering and the Town Attorney for Friday, Aug. 15, 2025 at 10:00 AM to refine plans and submission schedules for Lower Road and Martin Road.
