Justice clerk raises concern about pay increases during budget hearing

Patty Doverspike, who identified herself as the justice clerk to Judge Laird, used the privilege of the floor at the Nov. 12 public hearing to question changes to the court section of the draft budget. She told the board that Clerk 1 received an 8% pay increase while Clerk 2 received a 17.4% increase and said Clerk 2 would be a new hire with less experience.
Doverspikes remarks were recorded in the minutes but the transcript does not show a direct reply from board members to her concern. Shortly after public comment, the board approved an amendment to set Justice Clerk #2s hourly wage at $24.85 and then adopted the overall 2026 budget.
