County staff seeks business‑owner recruits for economic development committee; may relax membership rules

"We worked with Thomas in communications, and we sent out some additional communications ... we have been getting some applications in," Matt said. He proposed outreach to the Chamber of Commerce and Workforce Oregon to identify candidates and suggested that, if seats remain vacant, the board consider temporarily filling them with members at‑large so the committee can begin its work this year. Staff said the committee is intended to recommend how the county distributes economic-development funds; staff plans to return with recommended membership changes and clearer application criteria before FY28 funding decisions. Commissioners discussed committee size and qualifications and asked staff to return with specific recommendations.
