Market Basket move and center renovation at 34 Plaistow Rd. continued for engineering review

Nick Golan of TF Moran described a large renovation of the shopping center at 34 Plaistow Road that would relocate Market Basket into the space currently occupied by Kohl’s, create two renovated 26,000‑square‑foot tenant spaces and add a small bank along the frontage. The applicant proposes significant changes to access and circulation and a reduction in parking from approximately 900 spaces to roughly 700.

Chair Richard Anthony cautioned that the board’s engineer had not yet reviewed the materials and that, for the purpose of the meeting, questions could be discussed but the application would be continued. Abutter April DiVirgillio identified herself and asked about building expansion; Golan confirmed an expansion at the rear. The Board continued the public hearing to the August 19 meeting to allow engineer review and further public input.
