County reports 14 homeless cases and rapid use of $100,000 rental supplement fund

Social Services Director Amy Miller told the Human Services Committee that as of July 28 the county was managing 14 homeless housing cases, all single individuals, with six placed in town through Keuka Housing Council and the remainder housed out of town. Miller described program tracking and landlord lease requirements that accompany rental supplements.
Miller said the RSP Rental Supplement Program received $100,000 for the budget year and that funds were quickly committed: "Took less than 2 months" to serve 16 households (nine singles or adult couples and seven families). The program supplements rent to bring tenant housing costs down to 30% of income and typically commits assistance for one year; staff said they will request additional funding if other counties return unused dollars.
