Boerne plans conceptual design for animal shelter after needs assessment; council calls it a community priority

Councilmember Bunker, who toured the shelter, described overcrowding and commended shelter staff for making do with limited resources. "They are seem to be masters at the little Aggie engineering and making stuff work," Bunker said. The mayor called the shelter "a need, not a want" for the community and urged continued thoughtful planning.
Next steps include producing a conceptual design with estimated costs and returning to council to consider site selection, fundraising partnerships and possible grant opportunities. Staff noted seed money is available to advance conceptual work.
