Regarding classroom cellphone policy, she summarized a recently signed Senate bill described in the meeting as restricting phone use during instructional time while allowing local flexibility for medical needs and limited teacher uses.
Committee members asked about mentor training and candidate screening; the superintendent said mentors receive three days of training including youth mental-health certification and that the program requires at least an associate degree to qualify for substitute-teacher licensure pathways.
