VAC reports outreach wins, open house and $5.1M in new benefits for veterans

She said the office often encounters people who "didn't know about" VAC services and is working to broaden awareness through events and local partnerships.
Krista invited committee members to VAC’s Peru open house on Aug. 19 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and said the office has brought in over $5,100,000 in new benefits for veterans so far this year. She also noted ongoing staff training — including a mental-health certification course — and the office’s efforts to refer veterans to local sober/clean housing and other supports.
The committee approved Krista’s report and VAC bills and encouraged outreach to boost awareness of VAC services.
