The Placentia City Council adopted the annual levy for Street Lighting District 81‑1 at its June 17 meeting following a staff presentation.
Staff noted that the district, formed in 1981, includes roughly 3,600 properties and funds street lighting for about 814 fixtures in the district. The proposed FY 2025–26 budget shows about $197,000 in revenues; staff said the assessments collected are approximately $136,000 and the general fund subsidizes the difference of roughly $61,000. "We've, so it was a reduction in the amount we're contributing from the general fund," staff said, noting LED upgrades produced approximately $8,000 in annual savings.
No protests were filed and staff recommended adoption of the engineer's report; the council approved the resolution by a recorded vote listed as 4 yes, 1 not voting.
