Dawn St. Clair Davis, the newly appointed administrator at the LaSalle County Nursing Home, told the committee the facility collected $866,468 in revenue in July and recorded expenses of about $656,000, producing a monthly margin she described as “24.28%.”
Dawn said the home’s average daily census for July was 64 residents, comprised of 6 Medicare or Medicare-replacement cases, 29 private-pay residents and 29 public-aid residents. Year to date, she reported $5,250,000 in revenue versus $5,350,000 in expenses, a deficit of about $103,000 (roughly 1.97%), which she said is improved compared with the budgeted projection.
Dawn framed the month’s cash collections as partly reflecting a tax-levy distribution received in July; she also noted that timing of tax receipts will change monthly and affect cashflow. Committee members asked for follow-up on per-resident-day revenue and the relationship between cash accounting and accrual accounting to better assess operational performance.
The committee approved the nursing-home bills and Dawn’s report before adjourning.
