Board selects four student representatives for 2026–27 school year

The Phoenix-Talent School Board on May 20 chose four student representatives for the 2026–27 school year after interviewing eight candidates.
Elia Santos, who is continuing as a student representative, described campaign activity at PHS ahead of ASB elections, saying, "there are memes, there are funny quotes, and everything you can imagine." Board members heard each candidate summarize their activities and explain how they would gather peer input on board policies JFCEB (Personal Electronic Devices), JBB (District Equity Policy) and EFAA (District Nutrition and Food Services). After deliberation the board announced Elia Santos, Anali Perezchica, Antonio Carrera and Lucero Guerra had been selected; the district emailed the students with the announcement.
Board Chair Michael Campbell thanked the applicants and said the board looks forward to welcoming the new representatives at the next meeting. The interviews were part of the meeting's action items and required board discussion but no formal roll-call vote was recorded for the selections.
