Council upholds Planning & Zoning denial of conditional-use permit for small fitness facility

The Planning & Zoning Commission had recommended denying Troy Bruns conditional-use permit request to operate a small-scale fitness facility in an accessory garage in an R1 residential zone (parcel ID 090-0166-00060). Councilor Beyondich, the liaison to the commission, said the commission "did a very nice job of handling that" and that residents who attended the planning meeting had raised concerns.
Councilors debated proximate impacts and noted prior applications for similar uses in the same area had also been denied by the commission. Councilor Beyondich moved to support the commissions recommendation; the motion carried when the mayor called for the vote. The council therefore upheld the Planning & Zoning Commissions denial of the conditional-use permit.
