Applicant withdraws after board learns prior licensee holds $20,000 stake in El Rey de Oroz application

An application for a beer-and-wine license drew scrutiny when counsel and the applicant acknowledged an incomplete answer on the personal questionnaire. Neil Visock, representing the applicant, told the board that a question about prior licensees had been answered incorrectly on the applicant’s personal form "and I missed that point." He said that the omission was not intentional and described the prior licensee, Rigoberto, as now working at the premises as a cook.
Under questioning from the members, the hearing revealed that the prior licensee or a relative had a $20,000 investment connected to the business. Licensing staff and commissioners noted that investments and familial relationships must be disclosed; after the Board pressed whether the application should be withdrawn in light of the new information, counsel said the applicant would withdraw the application. "If you want Absolutely. It should be it should be withdrawn," Visock told the panel.
The board recorded the withdrawal and advised the applicant to contact licensing for next steps; staff said a letter will follow that formalizes the withdrawal and any outstanding requirements.
