Supervisor Joe Pete Wilson explained the town completed a broader records project under a grant and the court "asked if they could do it" because the court is out of space; the grant process took three years, so the court requested the town pay for the immediate work. The board adopted the resolution unanimously.
The record-retention contractors will be expected to inventory, process and file or dispose of court records consistent with applicable retention rules; the transcript did not include a contract copy or a schedule for completion. The Town Clerk's office will serve as the contact for records access once work is complete.
